About Me

Here is the revised text, cleaned up for spelling, grammar, and paragraph structure:

Hello! My name is Maria Gabriela Canchola, but you can always call me Gaby for short. I am a bilingual, Spanish-speaking Associate Clinical Social Worker and Therapist.

I am a first-generation Mexican-American, born and raised in Los Angeles, and am working towards destigmatizing mental health in the Latin community. I received my Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Mount Saint Maryโ€™s University, and then earned a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Southern California.

I am passionate when it comes to helping others, especially regarding self-discovery. I aim to build a safe and therapeutic relationship, helping my clients know that they are not alone in their struggles.

Life has its ups and downs, and it is very important for me to meet you where you are because I believe every person is unique. Depending on your needs, I incorporate different interventions, including:

Motivational Interviewing

Psychodynamic

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Trauma-Focused Therapy

Family Systems

Strength-Based Approaches

I have interned and worked with diverse populations, including children, teens, adults in grief support, adults with mental health issues, those experiencing homelessness, adults with memory care, and those with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues. I am excited and look forward to working with you.

In my free time, I like to go hiking, visiting national parks, trying new foods, going out dancing, and watching movies. I enjoy listening to music of all kinds because music brings me joy. I also like to spend time with my pet cockatiel, trying to teach her tricks. I like to make time to simply enjoy the little things in life. To me, self-care can look like anything, and I believe it is always important to make time for personal care.
